Abu Dhabi’s Hub71 welcomes two new prominent accelerators to its tech hub

Hub71, a global tech hub based in Abu Dhabi and driven by Mubadala, announce two new partners that will join by the end of this year, Techstars and Starburst, according to Arabian Business. 

Techstars, is a worldwide renowned mentorship-driven accelerator and network, and Starburst is one of the top leading aerospace accelerators in the world. 

The addition of these two accelerators to Hub71 aims to maximize success for the startups and will bring direct access to funds, sector expertise, a global network of industry, and mentorship-based 12-week programs. 

Mahmoud Adi, head of Hub71 talks about their initiative saying: “We want to position Abu Dhabi as a leading global city for ambitious founders seeking to set up and grow their technology companies. Hub71’s mission is to remove regulatory roadblocks faced by start-ups.” 

He adds that they’re looking to build a global network of technology partners and investors around Hub71 founder to increase the chances of their success. 

David Brown, co-founder, and co-CEO of Techstars said: “We are excited at the prospect of working with Hub71 in Abu Dhabi to help grow and scale the startup community. We have been active in the UAE through prior Techstars programs and welcome the opportunity to extend our global network of over 150 countries, over 10,000 mentors and over 300,000 alumni.”

Francois Chopard, founder of Starburst also expressed his excitement on collaborating with Hub71 to bring the best aerospace startups to Abu Dhabi. “Aerospace has been one of Abu Dhabi’s top priorities for the last twenty years, including the establishment of the UAE Space Agency. Starburst will provide a three-month program for ten start-ups per year, including direct financing, world-class mentors from the aerospace industry and access to local financing,” he said. 

The tech hub is a key initiative of the Abu Dhabi Government’s Ghadan 21 economic acceleration program. It is driven by Mubadala in collaboration with Microsoft, SoftBank Vision Fund and Abu Dhabi Global Market.
