According to TechCrunch, YouTube is focusing on more a social experience, acquiring Google’s internal incubator, Area 120, which launched Uptime, an app that lets you watch videos together with your friends. The app is currently only available for iOS devices, and it feels very different from the standard YouTube experience.
The app is pretty cool, featuring a “reaction” feature inspired by live-streaming services such as Twitter’s Periscope and Facebook Live. Uptime is currently in invite-only mode, but the invite code “pizza” gets you in.
