It’s official — the largest interactive gathering in the region, STEP 2017, is happening! The conference is getting thousands of entrepreneurs, investors and tech & media enthusiasts. In its 5th year, the STEP Conference and music festival will be at the Dubai International Marine Club from April 5th to 7th. So mark your calendars now!

For reals though, here’s why you, as a Bahraini, need to go to this event this year.

  1. For three days, you get to meet and network with some really cool people. Estimated at 10,000, the list includes entrepreneurs, investors, and tech & media enthusiasts, and over 400 startups with the best of technology. Notable people are coming from awesome companies like Mudassir Sheikha from Careem, satirist Karl Sharro from Karl reMarks, Dima Khatib from AJ+, as well as some cool people from Facebook, BlogsMagBuzzfeed News, Huffington Post, and Rocket Internet.
  2. If you’re a startup, you get to explore and experience Dubai’s unique ecosystem, not to mention do a live pitch! The Startup Basecamp #STEP2017 will witness the largest startup showcase in the MENA region to gather over 400 promising startups from all industries from all around the world. Pitch to investors, access mentorships and workshops, talks & panel discussions. Investors attending include Walid Mansour (MEVP), Amir Farha (BECO Capital), Arif Naqvi (Abraaj Group), Michael Lints (Golden Gate Ventures), Ahmed El Alfi (Sawari Ventures).   3.  Attend the “it” musical gathering of the year. Don’t miss out on one of the biggest musical events of the year! STEP Music is partnering with Anghami to bring local artists  and record labels to explore the latest trends, challenges and the future of the music industry in the region, all with live performances from the region’s top independent artists.  
  4. Be in Dubai: the city of dreams. The hustle and bustle life of big city life awaits. Even if it’s for two or three days, you get to experience firsthand what makes a big city so cool: towering skyscrapers, fast-paced lifestyle, and people from all countries and walks of life. Go to Legoland, Bollywood Park, and Global Village. Put simply, it’s a good change from tiny, cute, and cozy Bahrain.
